Kúkátónón Children’s African Dance Troupe
5325 North Williams, Portland, Oregon
(503) 709-7540
Kúkátónón means, “we are one” in the Kpelle language of Liberia, and it is this sentiment that the children’s dance troupe brings to Portland. The goal of Kúkátónón is to broaden awareness of African and African American cultural traditions throughout Oregon, and to inspire confidence, commitment and vitality among the children in the dance troupe. For nearly 30 years, Kúkátónón has provided a forum for African and African American children to experience their cultural heritage, and for Oregonians of all backgrounds to participate in and enjoy the rich traditions of West African dance.
